Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then found numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they added.
Municipal representatives stated they were working "to unravel the case" and have requested to the community for details.
An important political figure commented the vandalism left him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
