Shocked onlookers have recounted the "terrifying" scene unfolding as a car and stabbing attack left two people deceased and three others injured outside a Jewish place of worship in Manchester.
Law enforcement stated a car was rammed into individuals in the incident in Crumpsall and a man - thought to be the perpetrator - was fired upon by armed police and is also believed to be deceased.
A driver said he witnessed what initially seemed to be a vehicle collision before noticing there was a person carrying a knife.
"We observed a vehicle involved in a collision, so we just thought it was a typical accident, but when we approached nearer we spotted a man severely injured on the pavement. He was motionless, thought to be killed," he remarked.
"Afterwards there was a guy in front of the car, he was lying on the floor, and there were a several individuals standing in the road."
The witness, who was named Gareth, reported to a media outlet: "Someone called out 'he's in the school or the synagogue' and then as we observed the individual had a blade and he was just stabbing the glass, trying to get in [the building], and moments later the police arrived."
"They gave him a couple of warnings, he ignored them, so they discharged their weapons. He went down on the floor and then he began to rise and then they discharged their firearms again."
The assault occurred on the holiest Jewish day, the important religious observance in the Jewish tradition, in a part of the city with a prominent Jewish residents.
Footage posted on online platforms seemed to depict police officers directing weapons at a person sprawled on the floor outside the entrance to the synagogue.

The person on the ground is shown attempting to stand before there is the report of a shot and they fall to the ground.
One more victim was depicted still on the floor outside the entrance gates with evidence of injury near their upper body.

One more bystander, Shah, who resides near the building, described seeing a car "speeding by and targeting the bystanders."
"After that I had seen a person leap from the car and moving towards the bystanders," he said.
"It proved quite distressing to be fair. And then subsequently I slowed down a moment just to see what was going on and to try and call authorities."
"The individual was appearing with a blade and he just started acting violently."
"It's quite terrifying to be completely honest."
Neighborhood dweller Olivia Gold said she had friends who visit the synagogue.
She told a media outlet: "Probably very, very occupied. I reside nearby, but I've visited to offer assistance. It's now just officers handling the situation."
"I came out to understand the situation because I noticed multiple aircraft."
"It's just horrendous. We're a tranquil area, we seek no trouble. We wish to avoid any of this."
"I think the officers' actions has been extremely effective. They responded really, really quickly."
Chava Lewin, who stated she was a practicing Jew, lives next door to the worship center.
She said: "I stood outdoors and heard a impact noise and I assumed it might be a explosion."
"I conversed with an individual who said she was driving and observed a car driving erratically and it crashed into the entrance [of the synagogue]."
"As soon as he got out of the car he began attacking nearby individuals. He attacked the guard and sought access to the synagogue. He was in the courtyard."
"An individual barricaded the door. Everyone is in complete disbelief."
One more person said prayers had commenced when the attack occurred but Rabbi Daniel Walker, who was officiating, stayed composed and he and additional individuals led the congregation to security.
He added: "These individuals represent true heroes."
